T-Mobile Prepaid Wireless Phone Plans
It could be argued that no company in the cell phone industry feels larger than T-Mobile. Even though they are only the fourth largest wireless phone service in the country, their widespread ad campaign has given them the kind of massive presence that is comparable to some of the industry’s top companies. While their seemingly ubiquitous nature is primarily brought about by their contracted cellular services, they do have a couple of prepaid plans in their arsenal to compete with telecoms that provide prepaid wireless service.
T-Mobile does not offer any unlimited or limited monthly plans among their list of prepaid cell phone packages.
Usage Based Plans
The company only offers one prepaid daily plan. However, the upside of this lone package is that it is considered by many to be a top-flight program. First of all, the plan costs $1 a day plus $.10 a minute, and that daily rate is only charged on days where the phone is used. Plus, the package features free night calling that stretches from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Additionally, the plan offers free calls to people on the T-Mobile network.
T-Mobile offers a few more pay-as-you-go services in their repertoire. These plans include:
- Purchasing 30 minutes of airtime for $10. This translates to $.333 per minute, which some people may consider too pricey.
- Purchasing 130 minutes of airtime for $25. This breaks out to $.192 per minute.
- Purchasing 400 minutes of airtime for $50. This works out to $.125 per minute.
- Purchasing 1,000 minutes of airtime for $100. With this package, T-Mobile will also kick in an additional 150 minutes as part of their Gold Rewards program, thus giving customers 1,150 minutes of airtime. This translates to $.087 per minute.
It should be noted that with all the daily plans with the exception of the $100 plan, the airtime purchased remain available for 90 days. With the $100 plan, however, the airtime that is bought remains in effect for a full year.
T-Mobile does have a reasonably large network of coverage that covers most of the continental U.S., Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. While the daily usage plans just covers phone calls, all of them include nationwide long distance, 3-way calling, Call Waiting, voicemail, and CallerID.
The company also offers messaging services through their Sidekick plan. This package costs $1 per day and offers unlimited texting, instant messaging, unlimited domestic e-mail, and web browsing. Voice calls on this plan are charged at $.15 per minute.
T-Mobile does not charge an activation fee for their prepaid plans. While the company does charge $.49 per minute in roaming charges – a whopping fee compared to other competitors – the extensiveness of their network may make this expense a non-issue for most users.
Like a lot of telecoms that provide prepaid wireless service, the selection of prepaid phones that T-Mobile offers is on the sparse side. However, the phones that are offered do contain the kind of items that most customers are looking for, such as Bluetooth connectivity, messaging, and cameras.
